Do Bees Hibernate?
Actually they don’t. They slow down and cluster around the queen to keep her warm during the cold days of winter. They will fly out if it gets over 50 or so. This can happen in January or February and it’s actually good for them as they won’t go to the bathroom in the hive, so they get a bit of relief. The only bad part is if they land in the snow, they usually get too chilled to fly. We’ve rescued more than a few we scooped out the snow and warmed them up inside before letting them go back home. :)
